Reflects its surroundings with an elegant sense of reverence. The central pool area echoes the hues of the surrounding landscape. Plump boabs finger the sky. Kimberley stone paving and raised walkways fashioned from recycled timber meander through the property. – Gourmet Traveller (Australia)
In the 1880s, the beautiful waters off Broome gave the town more than a sublime setting – they supported a thriving pearling industry, in turn drawing pearl divers from Japan, Malaya and the Philippines. The pearls are still here, so too is a vibrant multicultural population which boasts a blissed-out, colourful lifestyle.
Local attractions include fiery red ochre cliffs, 22km-long Cable Beach, dinosaur footprints at Point Gantheaume, Sun Pictures (the world’s oldest outdoor movies) and the Staircase to the Moon (for three days after the full moon from March to October, reflections stretch out across shiny mudflats creating the beautiful illusion of a long silver staircase).
From Broome, venture north into Cape Leveque to experience an authentic Australian outback adventure by four wheel drive, take a scenic flight over extraordinary rock formations and magnificent waterfalls, or cruise through the inland waterways that permeate the region.
Broome is a gateway to the Kimberley – one of the world’s last great wilderness areas. Covering an expanse of nearly 423,000 square kilometres and with an estimated population of just 30,000 it has fewer people per square kilometre than almost any other place on Earth.
One of its many highlights is the dramatic Bungle Bungle Range (Purnululu), famous for its giant ‘beehives’ of domed rocks.
The Pinctada Spa is an oasis created to nurture, revive and rekindle – a world class day spa in Broome, WA encircling a sparkling courtyard with a relaxation plunge pool and custom-crafted Pinctada daybeds.
The Pinctada Spa is Australia’s only LI’TYA concept spa. An extensive treatment menu features LI’TYA Spa Care from the Aboriginal Dreamtime, based on Australian native botanicals and tapping into 40,000 years of indigenous plant wisdom and holistic healing to rejuvenate the spirit.
Treatments are from the earth, the sea and, the Kimberley. They include Pinctada maxima, the mother of pearl shell that nurtures the world’s most beautiful pearl, and indigenous to the pristine waters of the Indian Ocean off the West Kimberley town of Broome.
The stones in the Kodo massage were gathered in Kununurra, the gateway town to the East Kimberley: each month their spiritual powers are replenished under the light of the full Kimberley moon. (Costs apply.)

To dine at Selene is to experience a culinary spice journey that stretches from the Middle East to North Africa and Europe, all infused with a touch of the Kimberley. The signature dish – spiced sautéed pearl meat – respects Broome’s rich pearling heritage; another speciality is the feasting menu which is created by Chef on request to cater for individual tastes.
The resort’s design in part reflects the style of the old pearler’s homes. Four Master Pearler suites are the centrepiece of a total complement of 72 studios and suites; each is distinctive in its fit-out, furnishing and décor, complete with original artworks. Much of this is the result of owner Marilynne Paspaley’s eclectic taste, in keeping with the strong indigenous presence in the region and, of course, Broome’s own heritage. All furnishings are hand-picked and the majority are specially made for the project.

Both the Honjin Courtyard Suites and Studios can interconnect and form a two-bedroom suite. Both Honjin suites and studios receive the services of attentive valet staff.
