Location: Barossa Valley

The Barossa is the wine capital of Australia, home to world-famous producers including Wolf Blass, Grant Burge and Peter Lehmann. Today, it is home to over 100 wineries, with more than 60 of these hosting cellar doors.
But the Barossa (and nearby Eden Valley) is not only rich in world-beating Shiraz and Riesling – it is also rich with artisan food production combining to produce an unsurpassed breadth and depth of culinary and viticulture experience. Flavours of the seasonal produce along with traditional meats and breads abound at the local Farmer’s Market, specialist providores and on the tables of the Barossa.
Over 150 years of German settlement have left the region’s picturesque towns and villages with distinct stories and histories. Visitors will find them intimate, welcoming and rewarding.
Perfect grape-growing weather often means perfect weather for outdoor activities; diversions include hot air ballooning, golf, cycling, hiking, and wine-touring in everything from stretch limo to helicopter to trike to 1962 ex-royal Daimler!

Activities

The Barossa is the undisputed wine capital of Australia, home to more than 600 grapegrowers and 100 or more wineries. Barossa Shiraz red wines and nearby Eden Valley crisp white Rieslings are perennial international world gold medal winners. The winemaking experience may be shared at five dozen cellar doors within a few minutes walk, bike ride or drive from The Louise.
The Tailor can arrange a private guide to help you explore the many highlights of the Barossa Valley, including private visits to boutique wineries to meet the winemaker. Some guests like to blend (and label!) their own wine variety at Penfolds winery, then open it during dinner at Appellation with a specially prepared dish to match their own wine!
