Itinerary

DAY 1

Upon arrival at Launceston Airport you will be met by your private Pepper Bush Adventures guide to begin your Tasmania adventure! This morning you will make your way to Trowunna Wildlife Park for a private tour.
Cuddle a wombat, walk amongst the kangaroos and see the Tasmanian devils being fed on a visit to Mole Creek’s Trowunna Wildlife Park. Enjoy more than the opportunity to observe and learn about Tasmania’s unique and wonderful wildlife; Trowunna is the nature-lover’s wildlife park. Like the animals themselves, visitors feel relaxed and at peace amongst the tall timber and grassy clearings which provide a natural habitat for a wide range of Tasmanian native species. Trowunna Wildlife Park is a wildlife sanctuary and many of the animals and birds which roam freely everywhere have declined to leave after rescue and rehabilitation, or have simply invited themselves in. Their contentment is obvious, as friendly kangaroos, including mothers with joeys peeking out of their pouches, get up close and personal with visitors.

Later in the afternoon travel to Narawntapu National Park, a peaceful coastal refuge, with inlets, small islands, wetlands, sand dunes, lagoons and an amazing variety of plants and animals. The park boasts a rich array of animals that come out in the evening to graze on the grasslands, including Forester kangaroos, Bennett’s wallabies and wombats. Many species of birds gather in the park, including honeyeaters, rosellas, black cockatoos and all manner of twittering robins. Water birds flourish on the shores and lagoons at Spring Lawn and can be easily observed from a bird hide.

Your accommodation for the next two nights will be at Peppers Seaport, Launceston. Located where the North and South Esk River meet to become the Tamar River, Peppers Seaport Hotel delivers a vibrant experience. Just a five minute walk from Launceston’s town centre, Peppers Seaport Hotel is built in the shape of a ship on the site of an old dry dock. The hotel exudes a stylish, contemporary design with a distinct nautical feel, where you can begin your day with a refreshing walk along the marina or you can simply relax and relish in the sun’s warmth and the stunning views from your room.

DAY 2

After breakfast you will be met again by your private guide from Pepper Bush Adventures. This morning you will have the opportunity to hike Ben Lomond to experience its awesome dolerite peaks and alpine vegetation with its panoramic photo opportunities with the option to walk to the second highest point in Tasmania. A moderate fitness level is required.

Next you will have the chance to mountain bike the Ben Lomond descent.
Your guide will take you on one of the ultimate mountain bike descents possible in Tasmania with a total drop of 1050 vertical metres. Starting in the alpine Ski Village at 1450m, this awesome trip takes you down the spectacular Jacobs Ladder road and through the eucalypt forests to our finishing point on the Blessington Road at 400m.

Later today, regarded as one of Australia’s best nature experiences, discover the wildlife and tastes of Tasmania on the Quoll Patrol afternoon/evening tour. Enjoy a gourmet campfire dinner with a wonderful after dark wildlife show which focuses on the antics of the eastern quoll in its natural habitat.
The bush tucker dinner – on private acreage, dinner is a 4 course campfire Tasmanian bush tucker affair consisting of Tasmanian cheese platter with Tasmanian smoked chicken, salmon and wallaby and followed by wallaby mountain burgers and native spiced salmon.

Settle back and relax with a Tassie beer or wine and watch the sun set to experience one of the best after dark shows on offer. Be delightedly surprised with the after dark wildlife show – a memorable nocturnal wildlife experience with some of Tasmania’s unique and endearing wildlife species: Eastern quolls, pademelons and Bennett’s wallabies, wombats and brush tail possums all within reach. Owls, bandicoots and tawny frogmouths are some of the other local residents.

DAY 3

This morning after breakfast check-out of Peppers Seaport. Your private guide from Pepper Bush Adventures will collect you to experience the Hollybank Treetops Adventure. The tour combines the adrenaline rush of a high-wire zip-line ride with an informative and highly entertaining outlook of the forest. This 3 hour adventure consists of a multi-stage, zip-line ride in the tree canopy, far above the forest floor, the very best place to enjoy the wonders that this unique landscape offers.

After lunch, proceed to Kookaburra Ridge to partake in a quad bike tour. Accommodating all types of riders, ride fast or ride slow… the choice is yours. Riders of all competency levels have the freedom to ride a quad bike along numerous bush tracks taking you through hidden gullies and across open pastures.
Tours include a brief rider and safety induction. Quad bikes are fully automatic and very easy to operate. Minimum age to ride is generally 13 years but children are welcome to join in on the action as a passenger.

Later in the afternoon make your way to Beulah Heritage bed and breakfast which will be your accommodation for next two nights. Centrally located, Beulah was built in c1878 by one of Scottsdale’s earliest pioneers and is a classic Victorian home set on half an acre of picturesque cottage gardens. Beulah is ideally situated in the main street of Scottsdale.  It is a very short walk to banks, cafes, local hotels or Scottsdale’s delightful Art Gallery. Scottsdale is the ideal starting point for any ventures into North-East Tasmania’s beautiful beaches and forests.

DAY 4

Start the morning with a hunt for the elusive platypus by travelling to the far north east of Tasmania. From its long, lonely beaches to its teeming wildlife; from its unique history to its abundant plant life, Mt William National Park and Bay of Fires region is a place of constant fascination. Nestled in the far north-east corner of the State, the park is an important area for the conservation of Tasmania’s coastal heathlands and dry sclerophyll plants.

This afternoon you will have the opportunity to try your hand at Trout Fishing, nothing too serious but some brilliant fun in one of the numerous waterways of north east Tasmania. Pepper Bush Adventures has access to privately stocked trout ponds along with right of entry to many of the private lands which the bountiful rivers and streams of north east Tasmania flow through. Enjoy a barbecue dinner whilst out fishing.

DAY 5

Today make your way with your private guide from Pepper Bush Adventure to Evercreech Forest Reserve. An impressive natural reserve located in north east Tasmania. See the world’s tallest white gums (over 90 metres) and aptly named the “White Knights” and wander through the forest alongside the headwaters of the river and stand in awe amongst the ancient tree ferns.

This afternoon you will have the chance to go for an Oyster Paddle and taste an oyster plucked fresh from the water! Experience the hidden gem that is Moulting Lagoon only 5 minutes’ drive from Coles Bay. This world recognised bird sanctuary is a must see by kayak. Get up close and personal as you glide by sea eagles, black swans and over 100 species of birds. Experience the unique opportunity to hear from one of Tasmania’s leading oyster farmers and taste an oyster harvested and shucked before your very eyes. This tour is suitable for all ages and no experience necessary.

Later in the afternoon your Pepper Bush Adventures guide will transfer you to Saffire Freycinet, where you will spend the next 2 nights and this is where you will bid your guide farewell. Saffire is an intimate sanctuary on Tasmania’s east coast, delivering an inspirational experience in sophisticated, coastal style.
