Silky Oaks Lodge

Found within the heart of the World Heritage-listed Daintree Rainforest alongside the Mossman River, Silky Oaks Lodge delivers a five-star luxury lodge experience in Tropical North Queensland.

This premium escape is perfectly positioned between Tropical North Queensland’s natural attractions of the primordial Daintree Rainforest and the sparkling Great Barrier Reef. Only an hour from Cairns and a 20-minute drive from Port Douglas, Silky Oaks Lodge offers a secluded escape into one of Australia’s most magnificent landscapes.

Forty luxury treehouse-style suites are on offer, overlooking the Mossman River or lush rainforest. Each suite is styled with contemporary furnishings and is constructed with local timbers to evoke a true sense of place and soften the boundary between the in- and outdoors.

The central hub of Silky Oaks Lodge offers multiple tiered areas to enjoy the sights and sounds of the rainforest and river, with most areas opening out into the elements including the on-site Treehouse Restaurant and Jungle Bar. While serving as a perfect base into exploring the region, Silky Oaks also offers plenty of on-site leisure. The Kubirri Lounge offers a comfortable space to relax, read, and play boardgames, while the Marrdja Pavilion offers an airy space for events. Also included are the Healing Waters Spa, fully-equipped gym, kitchen garden and nearby riverbank to discover.

Tropical North Queensland

The Tropical North of Queensland is bound by World Heritage-listed Daintree Rainforest in the north, the quaint sugarcane field villages in the south, and the magnificent Coral Sea housing the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park to the east.

A biodiverse tropical environment, Tropical North Queensland is home to mountainous ranges, sandy beaches, tidal wetlands, freshwater lakes, mudflats and mangrove swamps, rivers and estuaries, and rich coastal plains.

The two major urban centres are Cairns and Port Douglas, both popular holiday destinations with high-end restaurants, accommodation, art galleries, and boutiques on offer.

The Great Barrier Reef is the world’s largest reef system, comprising of nearly 3,000 individual reefs and 900 islands. This is the world’s largest living structure—so big it can be seen from space—and is formed by billions of tiny organisms known as coral polyps spread over 3,000 kilometres.

The Daintree Rainforest is part of the Wet Tropics of Queensland rainforest, is the Traditional Lands of the Kuku Yalanji people, and is the oldest continually surviving tropical rainforest in the world, dating back to over 120 million years ago. This region houses frogs, reptiles and marsupials alike with outstand bat, butterfly and bird species.

Silky Oaks is located on the Mossman River in the Daintree Rainforest, located 80km from Cairns (approximately 1.5 hours drive) and 23km from Port Douglas (approximately 30 minutes’ drive).

Each stay at Silky Oaks includes complimentary yoga classes in the airy pavilion, guided walks and bike rides throughout the region, and a daily shared shuttle to the nearby town of Port Douglas which offers palm-fringed, white sand beaches, boutique shopping, wining and dining, and more.

Lodge facilities to indulge in include a well-appointed gym, tennis court and pool, alongside the on-site Healing Waters Spa offering a range of rejuvenating treatments. Each stay additionally includes access to a range of watersports equipment to enjoy on the Mossman River such as canoeing, swimming and snorkelling.

With its perfect positioning, Silky Oaks Lodge is also the perfect base from which to explore further afield with a customised touring itinerary. Personalised to your preferences, your time here can lead you to wander through the Daintree Rainforest, have you dive into the Great Barrier Reef, and discover profound cultural interpretation from local Elders on the Kuku Yalanji country the lodge rests upon.

With many other customised options, each stay at Silky Oaks Lodge is designed to immerse and rejuvenate your spirit in one of Australia’s most ancient and breathtaking landscapes.
