Hayman Island
Description
Hayman Island is the nation’s most awarded five-star resort, a private island destination of international renown.
Enjoying idyllic beaches, turquoise Whitsunday waters and a dramatic hinterland of rugged Australian bush, it offers an exclusive realm of luxury, relaxation, indulgent dining, leisurely activity, reef adventure and breathtaking scenery.
The resort is situated on the southerly palm-fringed shore of the island, fronted
by a sweeping beach and surrounded by lush tropical gardens. Guests enjoy elegant resort living in 212 beautifully appointed rooms, suites, penthouses and beach villas. Designed to take advantage of the magnificent resort surrounds – including two swimming pools and gardens threaded through with waterways and walkways – all Hayman accommodation features private terraces or balconies.
The resort offers a selection of fine dining restaurants and bars as well as Spa Hayman, sports facilities and menu of activities – including, of course, trips to the Great Barrier Reef.
Hayman’s renowned resort is one of the oldest and most opulent in the region… popular with jet-setters who take their play and leisure seriously.
Location: The Whitsunday Islands/Great Barrier Reef
The Whitsundays is one of Australia’s natural wonders – a treasure chest of 74 emerald islands set in a sapphire sea.
The island group lies midway along Australia’s Queensland coast, with the famous Great Barrier Reef reached after a short boat or seaplane ride. Airlie Beach is the vibrant hub of the region, and gateway to the islands – only eight of which are inhabited.
The islands and waters are rich with wildlife, the beaches and coves are places of magic. Sink your feet into the white, silica sands of world-famous Whitehaven Beach; hike an island trail to secret bays; or set sail across the sparkling azure waters, keeping company with the dolphins and rays.
Each of the inhabited islands is known for setting its own pace, offering a mix of popular resorts, gleaming marinas and exclusive retreats.
The Great Barrier Reef is the world’s largest reef system comprising nearly 3,000 individual reefs and 900 islands – it is also the planet’s biggest single living structure formed by billions of tiny organisms known as coral polyps. It stretches for over 2,600km, covering approximately 350,000 square kilometres.
A large part of the reef is protected by the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park, which helps to limit the impact of human use.
Activities offered by the property
Hayman provides an ideal setting for relaxing leisure activities, wildlife encounters and sporting pursuits, all within the magnificent resort facilities and island landscape.

The Activities Centre also offers guests an extensively equipped gymnasium; golf putting and driving is available on Hayman’s 9-hole putting green and golf driving range.
A program of guided tours and walks is listed daily; and younger guests are invited to visit a dedicated children’s activities centre at Hernando’s Hideaway.
At extra cost, Hayman has a full menu of reef adventures and cruises plus sailing, seaplane and helicopter trips. The Marine Centre operates a fully accredited 5-Star PADI Dive and Snorkel Centre, and offers fishing trips and private charters, plus water sport pursuits from the Hayman Beach and into the reef surrounds.
The Spa offers an exclusive selection of personally-tailored beauty and well-being programs designed to restore wellness and balance.
