Itinerary

Day 1

Upon arrival at Sydney Airport you will be met and privately transferred to The Langham.

Voted one of the Top 100 Hotels in the World, The Langham Sydney is renowned for impeccable service, cuisine and comfort. From its historic The Rocks District location, guests can enjoy sweeping Western Harbour side views, and a tranquil yet convenient proximity to some of the city’s most iconic sites. Rooms are a haven of plush, bespoke furnishings amidst soft panelled walls and high ceilings, and are a welcome retreat from the bustling city.

Included in your first day in Sydney is one of the most unique and exciting Sydney experiences, the Sydney Harbour Bridge Climb. Reach the summit of the world-famous Sydney Harbour Bridge, 134 metres above Sydney Harbour. It takes you along catwalks, up ladders, and steadily to the summit of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Experience the satisfaction of conquering the upper arch of the Bridge while taking in city surrounds, the World Heritage listed Sydney Opera House, the harbour and the Bridge itself beneath your feet.

The remainder of the day is yours to spend at your leisure.

Day 2

Following breakfast, you will be met at The Langham by your private guide, to begin your full day Harbour and City Tour.

Today you will experience the beautiful city of Sydney by land, and by sea. Begin the tour by journeying through The Rocks District, the Botanical Gardens, and weaving your way through the picturesque streets of Paddington. After a delectable morning tea, you board the premium luxury vessel ‘Iluka’, and get ready to see Sydney from the water.

See some of the most stunning sites Sydney has to offer while cruising gently through the harbour, before anchoring for lunch near Taronga Zoo.

Following lunch, your land tour recommences as you drive to Vaucluse House, an old 1800’s colonial dwelling. Next is Watson’s Bay where you will enjoy dramatic cliff and city views. With ocean views still on the agenda, no trip would be complete without a stop at Australia’s most famous beach. At Bondi, you can explore the coast walk, or venture onto the white sands. Following your trip to Bondi, you will be escorted back to your Sydney accommodation. This tour will allow you to really get your bearings, and make sure you get the most out of your time in Sydney.

Day 3

This morning you see a different side of Sydney, with a half day Australian foodie adventure.

Guided by a knowledgeable local guide, you commence your walking tour in The Rocks. Here amongst the historic laneways and shadowed by the Harbour Bridge you will discover the very beginnings of Australia’s pub culture. With your specialist guide, you will step into The Lord Nelson, the country’s oldest pub brewery.

A pleasant wander through The Royal Botanic Gardens will lead you to your next stop, the Manta Restaurant. Located at Woolloomooloo, and perched at the edge of Sydney Harbour, the Manta is the perfect seafood experience with a dose of Sydney Harbour glamour. While you sip champagne and dine on locally grown oysters you can take in the beautiful views of the Botanic Gardens and gaze at the city’s impressive skyline.

 

Carry on to Potts Point, your final location for the day. The small district is notable for its nightlife, fascinating naval heritage, elegant art deco buildings, hip bars and acclaimed restaurants. Your gourmet lunch is at Sydney’s hottest new restaurant. At Bistro Rex experience some of the best Australian-French cuisine you will have ever had. Located in the very heart of the suburb, the Bistro offers reimagined Parisian classics with a twist, and an occasional hint of the former French colonial empire. An extensive wine list will offer a drink for everyone to enjoy paired with your two-course lunch. With your decadent taste of the city over for the time being, you will be escorted back to your Sydney accommodation.

Following your morning of fine food, fine wine and extraordinary touring, you are in for another treat as you make your way to the Sydney Opera House for a one hour privately guided tour. Discover a house of passion, drama and betrayal. More than 60 years ago, Jorn Utzon designed what is now considered one of the greatest buildings of all time. Using state of the art audio-visual technology, your guide will take you on an emotional journey inside this modern masterpiece.

Day 4

This morning you will be met at The Langham and privately transferred to Sydney Airport. Board the scheduled flight from Sydney Airport to Adelaide. Upon arrival at Adelaide Airport you will connect with your private charter flight to Arkaba.

Situated on the southern edge of Wilpena Pound and the Flinders Ranges National Park, Arkaba is your next stop. Arkaba is a remarkable 60,000 acre private conservancy in the Flinders Ranges, that is home to an incredible variety of birds and wildlife. With just 5 rooms in the main homestead, it is a contrast of style and comfort against the rugged backdrop of the harsh Flinders Ranges country.

Each bedroom has its own ensuite bathroom, and opens out onto a shaded veranda with individual views of the surrounding ranges. With no telephones, televisions, or minibars, the focus is solely on the experience and enjoying a simply magnificent property.

Day 5

For wildlife watching, bush-walking, indigenous heritage, photography or just soaking up the sights and sounds of outback Australia’s most breathtaking scenery, the Flinders Rangers is in a class of its own. Daily guided wilderness experiences are included in your stay. Arkaba’s expert field guides pull together the incredible geological history, wildlife and pastoral heritage of this region with 4WD safaris, guided bush walks that visit the secret spots on the property, and provide a chance to take in the sights and sounds of the bush.

Learn about the workings of a wildlife conservancy, mountain bike in the foothills of the Elder Range, view the local wildlife from open top safari vehicles, take a scenic flight over Wilpena Pound and outback salt pans (additional cost) or an early morning walk up one of the creek beds. Local wildlife includes red and grey kangaroos, yellow-footed rock wallabies and emus, and the scenery is some of the best in Australia.

This morning board your private Charter flight to Adelaide to connect with the scheduled flight from Adelaide to Kingscote, Kangaroo Island. Upon arrival at the Kingscote Airport you will be transferred to Southern Ocean Lodge.

Day 8

Today experience a full day of private touring with Exceptional Kangaroo Island. Former wildlife ranger and islander Craig Wickham, Exceptional Kangaroo Island’s founder, has assembled a team of dedicated, sharp-eyed outdoor enthusiasts who combine the role of naturalists, historians, driver, guides and story tellers to ensure you gain a local’s perspective of the island.

Day 10

This afternoon transfer to Kingscote Airport for your return flight to Adelaide where you will be met and privately transferred to the Mayfair Hotel.

Style, elegance, and a touch of glamour comes to Adelaide with the arrival of the city’s newest five-star boutique hotel. The magnificent Mayfair Hotel is located right in the heart of the city at the corner of King William and Hindley Street in the heritage-listed, beautifully renovated building.

Day 11

This morning you have an early start to the day, your private driver will collect you at the hotel and transfer you to Adelaide Airport. Board the scheduled flight to Cairns and connect with the scheduled flight between Cairns and Lizard Island.

Situated some 240 kilometres north of Cairns, Lizard Island is spectacularly located on the Great Barrier Reef and is fringed with Coral reefs and picture-perfect white beaches. Lizard Island features 40 elegant rooms, with spacious open-plan designs and spectacular views.

All 24 beaches, with fine powdery white sand, are largely undisturbed except for the occasional footprint. Lizard Island has a wide array of water-based experiences. Snorkelling equipment and lessons are provided for trips off of the beaches. Snorkel from one of the many secluded beaches to discover a garden of giant clams, some of which are reported to be up to 120 years old. Or you can explore Anchor and Watson’s bay on a catamaran or glass bottom paddle ski. There is also the option of taking a self-guided island or nature walk or enjoying a picnic hamper for a romantic beachside lunch.

If you are a little more adventurous, there are diving and snorkelling trips to the Inner and Outer reef, and fishing enthusiasts can charter the 15.5m “Fascination III”, or dive the famous Cod Hole, where you’ll come face to face with the massive, yet curious Potato Cod (additional charge).

Notes

This tour is designed for – Solo travellers/couples/small groups and families with children 10 years and over. Lizard Island is not suited to children under this age, should the itinerary be of interest and you are travelling with a young family please contact one of our Travel Designers as we can substitute Lizard Island with another property to suit a young family.

This Itinerary can be taken all year round; however, from December to March is the wet season in Tropical North Queensland, when you are likely to experience high humidity and rain, particularly in the months of February and March. Please note Lizard Island is closed from 28th January 2019 to 10th February 2019.
