Day 1

Upon arrival at Sydney Airport you will be met and privately transferred to Spicers Potts Point.

Located on the edge of Sydney’s CBD and tucked away on a leafy street surrounded by cafes, restaurants and boutique shops, Spicers Potts Point is distinct in its local flavour and feel. Spicers Potts Point is an 1880 Victorian Terrace House, and features a beautiful palette of neutral tones, comfortable furnishings and elegant design.

Included in your first day in Sydney is one of the most unique and exciting Sydney experiences, the Sydney Harbour Bridge Climb. Reach the summit of the world-famous Sydney Harbour Bridge, 134 metres above Sydney Harbour. It takes you along catwalks, up ladders, and steadily to the summit of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Experience the satisfaction of conquering the upper arch of the Bridge while taking in city surrounds, the World Heritage listed Sydney Opera House, the harbour and the Bridge itself beneath your feet.

This is a great experience for those who have just landed in Sydney on the early morning long-haul flights – a chance to discover Sydney and get busy, while getting over the jetlag!

Day 2

Following breakfast, you will be met at Spicers Potts Point by your experienced local guide for your One Fine Day tour.

In the morning explore the best Sydney has to offer on land, stopping at iconic Bondi Beach, Bronte Beach, Watsons Bay and the picturesque suburb of Paddington. Next you journey to the spot where European settlers first chose to step ashore in 1788, The Rocks. The Rocks cobbled laneways hold a history filled with convicts, soldiers and sailors and is the birthplace of modern Sydney. It is also a great spot to enjoy a drink in Australia’s oldest pubs.

Next you board your private luxury sailing yacht at the steps of the Sydney Opera House to experience Sydney from the water. Cruise from the Harbour to Manly, and everywhere in between, all the while your experienced skipper regales you with stories and history as you sail.

Lunch is served on board with your personal chef. Dine on quintessential Australian seafood with drinks to match as you take in uninterrupted views of the Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge. You will explore beautiful coves that are only accessible by the water and get the chance to stop at hidden beaches where you can dive in for a swim off the boat.

After a fun-filled day of exploration, your tour will conclude at your accommodation.

Day 3

This morning you will be met at Spicers Potts Point and privately transferred to Sydney Airport. Board the scheduled flight from Sydney Airport to Adelaide. Upon arrival at Adelaide Airport you will be met and privately transferred to Arkaba in the Flinders Ranges. This scenic drive will allow you to sit back and watch the changing colours of the landscape, and appreciate the remoteness of the Flinders Ranges.

Situated on the southern edge of Wilpena Pound and the Flinders Ranges National Park, Arkaba is a remarkable 60,000-acre private conservancy in the Flinders Ranges, that is home to an incredible variety of birds and wildlife. With just 5 rooms in the main homestead, it is a contrast of style and comfort against the rugged backdrop of the harsh Flinders Ranges country.

Each bedroom has its own ensuite bathroom, and opens out onto a shaded veranda with individual views of the surrounding ranges. With no telephones, televisions, or minibars, the focus is solely on the experience and enjoying a simply magnificent property.

Day 4

For wildlife watching, bush-walking, indigenous heritage, photography or just soaking up the sights and sounds of outback Australia’s most breathtaking scenery, the Flinders Rangers is in a class of its own. Daily guided wilderness experiences are included in your stay. Arkaba’s expert field guides pull together the incredible geological history, wildlife and pastoral heritage of this region with 4WD safaris, guided bush walks that visit the secret spots on the property, and provide a chance to take in the sights and sounds of the bush.

Learn about the workings of a wildlife conservancy, mountain bike in the foothills of the Elder Range, view the local wildlife from open top safari vehicles, take a scenic flight over Wilpena Pound and outback salt pans (additional cost) or an early morning walk up one of the creek beds. Local wildlife includes red and grey kangaroos, yellow-footed rock wallabies and emus, and the scenery is some of the best in Australia.

Day 6

This morning you will be transferred to the town of Hawker, where you will board a private chartered flight to Adelaide, to connect with your scheduled flight to Kangaroo Island. Upon arrival at the Kingscote Airport, you will be transferred to Southern Ocean Lodge, Australia’s first true luxury lodge, offering a unique and exclusive travel experience on Kangaroo Island in South Australia.

Floating atop a secluded cliff on a rugged stretch of coast, the lodge commands peerless views of the wild Southern Ocean and pristine Kangaroo Island wilderness. Day 7

Whilst at Southern Ocean Lodge, a range of shared signature experiences are scheduled daily, allowing you to encounter rich and varied nature and wildlife, these may include:

  • Wonders of KI – a half day guided journey into Flinders Chase National Park showcasing natural icons the Remarkable Rocks, Admirals Arch and a fur seal colony are some of the highlights.
  • Exclusive guided walk on the beach amongst Australia’s third largest colony of sea lions.
  • Coastal Clifftop walk – a scenic guided walk atop the limestone cliffs of Hanson Bay.
  • Kangas & Kanapés – a signature sunset drinks experience at nearby Grassdale, a historic island property – premium South Australian beverages, canapés and kangaroos!

If this is all too strenuous you can opt for indulgent pampering in the Southern Spa, located in a pavilion on the top of a hill with commanding views over the wild coastal landscape. Day 9

Today you bid Southern Ocean Lodge goodbye and embark on a full day of Kangaroo Island touring with Exceptional Kangaroo Island. Former wildlife ranger and islander Craig Wickham, Exceptional Kangaroo Island’s founder, has assembled a team of dedicated, sharp-eyed outdoor enthusiasts who combine the role of naturalists, historians, driver, guides and story tellers to ensure you gain a local’s perspective of the island. Experience the hidden treasures of Kangaroo Island alongside your private local guide.

On the conclusion of the tour you will be transferred to Kingscote Airport where you will board your scheduled flight to Adelaide. On arrival into Adelaide you will be privately transferred to the Mayfair Hotel for an overnight stay. Style, elegance, and a touch of glamour comes to Adelaide with the arrival of the city’s newest five-star boutique hotel.

The magnificent Mayfair Hotel is located right in the heart of the city at the corner of King William and Hindley Street in the heritage-listed, beautifully renovated building.

Day 10

After breakfast, you will be privately transferred to Adelaide Airport to board your scheduled flight to Cairns in Far North Queensland. On your arrival into Cairns Airport you will be privately transferred to Silky Oaks Lodge, located in the ancient Daintree Rainforest.

Silky Oaks Lodge is one of Australia’s premier luxury lodges, offering a unique base from which to explore Tropical North Queensland, situated within easy access from Cairns and a 15 minute drive from Port Douglas.

Spectacularly situated on the Mossman Gorge River, Silky Oaks Lodge is the region’s premier accommodation nestled on the edge of the World Heritage-listed Daintree National Park. This luxury boutique hotel lodge and Healing Waters Spa consists of elegant spacious lounges, living areas and the stunningly located open sided Tree House restaurant overlooking the surrounding rainforest and river in tranquil surrounds.

You will have the remainder of the day to enjoy the lodge at your leisure, complimentary lodge activities may include: use of river canoes, bikes, gym, media room, tennis court, swimming pool, yoga classes, self-guided rainforest walks, and river swimming.

Day 11

After breakfast, you will be picked up at Silky Oaks Lodge and transferred to Port Douglas for your day out on the Great Barrier Reef.

Snorkelling on the Great Barrier Reef is an incredible experience. With much of the reef’s colour and marine life visible within a couple of metres of the water’s surface, snorkelling offers all swimmers, regardless of their skill level, the opportunity to see this diverse eco-system up close.

Float effortlessly over rich, colourful coral gardens teeming with life from the cute and playful clownfish to the graceful beauty of the green turtle. Giant clams, stingrays, Maori wrasse, cods and colourful parrotfish, are just some of the hundreds of species you will encounter during your visit to Opal Reef with Calypso.

On the conclusion of your snorkelling trip, you will be transferred back to Silky Oaks Lodge.

Day 12

Today you will step back in time to experience the breathtaking Daintree and Mossman Rainforest. In the morning you will be taken to visit a beautifully diverse botanic garden, containing more than 3,000 tropical plant species from around the world. See plant species that have been used for generations by indigenous rainforest cultures, for food, spices, shelter, medicine and more. You will be provided a fresh homecooked meal while visiting the gardens.

After lunch, you will board your private Daintree River crocodile cruise. Get up close and personal with some of the most exciting inhabitants of the Daintree mangroves and rainforest, all from the comfort and safety of your weather-proof boat. This truly unique ecosystem is home to an extensive array of wildlife, and whilst on your private cruise, you will have the opportunity to meet some of these locals.

In the afternoon, take a walk in the footsteps of the Kurribi Warra Clan of the Kuku Yalanji, through the mangroves and the sandflats, as you learn how to throw a spear and hunt for traditional ocean produce such as mud crabs and fish. End your exciting day by cooking up your beach catch, before taking a leisurely trip back to your hotel through the swaying sugar cane fields with the rainforest clad mountains of the Great Dividing Range watching over you.

Day 13

After breakfast you will be privately transferred from Silky Oaks Lodge to the Cairns Domestic Airport to meet your scheduled flight to Brisbane. Upon arrival you will be transferred via heli to Spicers Peak Lodge.

Spicers Peak Lodge is enveloped by the World Heritage-listed Main Range National Park and just a 2-hour drive from Brisbane. The retreat sits on a plateau 1100 metres above sea level, claiming the title of Australia’s highest non-alpine lodge.

The 10 lodge suites take design cues from classic mountain lodge architecture, expect thick timber beams and generous stonework throughout. Furniture and fittings feature recycled Douglas fir and salvaged timber. A spacious lounge area is at the heart of the lodge, while a mezzanine level offers a pool table, library and balcony.

3 and 5-course degustation dinner menus, with suggested wine from the cellar, change daily in the award-winning Peak Restaurant. Offerings can be pan-fried yellowtail kingfish served with pickled cauliflower, chilli consommé and shellfish oil; crispy skinned Hombre duck flavoured with juniper berries and fennel seeds, finished with parsnip puree, persimmon jam, cauliflower threads and finger lime dressing; and dry-aged, slow-cooked Rangers Valley black angus beef, served with pickled pumpkin puree, radicchio and miso dressing.

Day 14

Whilst at Spicers Peak Lodge a daily timetable of unique guided experiences offers you plenty of inspiration to explore the great outdoors. Start your day with a yoga session, before heading outdoors. Signature activities include mountain biking, bushwalking, tennis, lawn games, guided walks, and 4WD tours across the property. No matter your choice you can expect to discover an abundance of seasonal flora and fauna. Additional offerings include scenic helicopter flights, forage and farm tours, and wine tasting in the nearby Granite Belt wine region.

The 20000-hectare Spicers Peak Nature Reserve provides you with unique access to the property’s own ecosystems and wildlife. Dense pockets of rainforest and open eucalypt forest feature ancient grass trees and towering tree ferns, while local fauna includes 50 species of mammals. Spot bandicoots, koalas, kangaroos, platypus and quolls. Birdlife is prolific, with regular sightings of cockatoos, owls, lyrebirds, honeyeaters, kites and parrots.

Back at the lodge, Spa Anise is the home of mountaintop relaxation treatments. Using exclusively Waterlily Spa Collection products, Peak Lodge’s team of therapists will create a spa experience just for you with anything from a two-hour full body relaxation massage to movement-based Zen Thai Shiatsu therapy. Or for another way to relax, take a dip in the infinity pool with a cocktail waiting for you.

Day 15

After a final morning in the stunning surrounds of Spicer Peak Lodge, you will be privately transferred back to Brisbane to connect with your scheduled flight onwards. If you would like to extend your trip around Australia please liaise with one of our fantastic Travel Designers.

This tour is designed for families with children 10 years and over. Southern Ocean Lodge is not suited to children under this age. Should the itinerary be of interest and you are travelling with a young family please contact one of our Travel Designers as we can customise a journey to suit your exact travel needs.

This Itinerary can be taken all year round, however we suggest speaking with your Travel Designer as seasonal considerations may apply e.g. from December to March is the wet season in Tropical North Queensland, when you are likely to experience high humidity and rain, particularly in the months of February and March.

Luggage Restrictions

Regional Express to/from Kangaroo Island enforce an allowance of 15kg checked/ 7kg hand luggage per person and soft sided bags are preferred. At select Airports, excess luggage can be stored with Regional Express for AUD$7.70 per bag (price subject to change) which is payable at check-in. Please ensure the total weight of hand/cabin baggage does not exceed 7kg, nor 23cm x34cmx48cm in dimension.
