De Coudie Beach House

De Coudie Beach House is nestled in a series of sand hills overlooking pristine Island Beach on Kangaroo Island. Designed by Sydney architect, Prue Murdoch, it affords true indoor/outdoor luxury, with light from sapphire seas and white sands playing on stainless steel fixtures and polished timbers.

This is a private escape for up to ten guests, ideal for people who want to combine executive space with relaxed beachside living and absolute privacy. The Island Beach setting is remote, the structure barely visible from the beach or waters of Kangaroo Cove. Your only neighbours are the kangaroos, wallabies, goannas and echidnas – all of whom you might meet along the bush-lined driveway.
But this stunning showcase house is also your home, so kick off your shoes, throw back the bi-fold doors leading to the huge deck and crack open a bottle of bubbles. Put on some favourite music or listen to the melodies of a lapping shore in warm breezes.
After a minute’s stroll through the dunes, you’re on 3km of brilliant white sands and safe, inviting waters.

There’s privacy and pristine waters to be had at De Coudie Beach House, on South Australia’s Kangaroo Island. This striking modern property, located just a minute’s walk from the beach, is cleverly designed to seem hidden from public view while allowing guests an exceptional outlook to the water.

Location: Kangaroo Island

Kangaroo Island is famous for its abundant wildlife species and natural beauty. Covering almost 4500 sq km (a third of which is conservation land), the island is relatively free of feral species allowing animal and bird populations to thrive.
See koalas in millennia-old native forests, walk among sea lions on pristine white-sand beaches, dive historic wrecks to see the famous Leafy Sea Dragon, watch Ospreys wheeling over rocky headlands…
Rich farmland and fertile seas have supported spirited island communities that are rich in history, culture and cuisine. Today, the passions of art communities, wine growers and artisan food producers help complete this extraordinary off-shore escape.

You are able to explore the island at your own pace, or for additional cost, The Tailor can arrange for private touring of Kangaroo Island with an expert guide.
