Authentic Aboriginal Experience – includes private museum
Gaining an authentic appreciation and understanding of Australia’s indigenous people and culture, one of the oldest living civilisation in the World, is a privileged experience. This luxury day tour is an extremely exclusive and authentic experience that provides guests with an understanding of the complexities, history, traditions, art and culture of Aboriginal Australians.
Your host and luxury private vehicle will meet you at your Sydney accommodation to begin your day at 9am to travel to the Australian Museum for a private 1 hour guided and insightful tour around the key indigenous exhibits. The Australian Museum is housed in one of Sydney’s most beautiful sandstone buildings and is Australia’s oldest museum with a remarkable collection of over 10 million specimens and artefacts.
Your private museum guide will you journey with you through the key exhibits to give you a real insight into the cultural collections and First Australians galleries – home to the permanent exhibitions Garrigarrang: Sea Country and Bayala Nura: Yarning Country. – which celebrate the history, spirituality and diversity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders.
After your visit to the Australian Museum, where you will gain an appreciation and understanding the history, spirituality and diversity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, be met at the next destination by a local Aboriginal man, a respected member of the Yuin-Dharawal nation, who will be your guide for the next 2 hours. Discover the world’s oldest living culture through the eyes of a traditional custodian.
Just a 30 minute drive from the Sydney CBD, on the northern headland just next to Botany Bay (where the first fleet of white settlers of Australia landed in 1788) your Aboriginal guide will meet you at La Perouse, a land the Aboriginal people once called Guriwal, “Whale”. Experience a traditional Welcome to Country ceremony, formally blessing you to walk the land with him, an invitation to open your mind and soul to the learnings of the land.
Discover the ancient history of the bush, ‘Caring for Country, learn about local plants and animals and some of their traditional uses on a 1.5 hour walking tour through Kamay Botany Bay National Park. Australian native plants have been used for thousands of years by Aboriginal people. Over morning tea you’ll be able to taste some traditional recipes as well as contemporary creations using native ingredients such as lemon myrtle, wattle seed and macadamia nut oil.
Botany Bay is the site of first contact with Aboriginal people during European settlement, an event that changed the country we now know as Australia irrevocably. Your Aboriginal guide can provide authentic stories from this time, providing an incredibly unique insight to what was almost recent history.
We leave your Aboriginal guide at La Perouse and your host will then take you will take you to visit an authentic Aboriginal Art Gallery where you can view various art sources from some of the most remote Aboriginal communities in the county. It is not a long drive and in fact includes a scenic tour of Sydney’s Eastern Beaches.
Let your guide know your preferences for lunch and they’ll choose a gorgeous stop at one of the beaches along the way, giving you the chance to taste some of Sydney’s fresh and gourmet delights. A 2 course lunch is included, where you will have the opportunity to debrief with your host about a day that is sure to keep you thinking about it long after it has concluded.
According to the season. Enclosed and stable footwear is recommended. We recommend a light wind/rain jacket and hat.

If a cancellation is made more than 30 days prior to Tour departure the cancellation fee is 25% of the Tour price.
If a cancellation is made more than 14 days but less than 30 days prior to Tour departure the cancellation fee is 50% of the Tour price.
If a cancellation is made less than 14 days prior to Tour departure, or for a non-appearance to commence the Tour, the cancellation fee is 100% of the Tour price.
No refunds are payable for ‘change of mind’.
