The Angas family have been at Hutton Vale Farm since the early years of European settlement in South Australia, dating back to an original estate created by George Fife Angas (1789-1879). This tour provides a rare opportunity to learn first hand from the family about the Barossa region and their heritage along with sampling some of the Barossa’s best food and wine.
On your arrival to Hutton Vale at 9:30am, you will be greeted by John and Jan Angas and given a showcase of the 2000 acres of land, producing a variety of wares – including wool, wine, artisanal food products, free-range lamb, chicken and heritage pork. They will share their stories of growing food alongside famous vineyards with global recognition for the rich heritage and commitment to handcrafted wines.
Enjoy a wine tasting in the vineyard, getting to know more about the vines and grapes used to make wines of the famous Barossa wine region. Meander through the vines back to cellar door for a farmhouse lunch created by Jan herself especially for you. Showcasing fresh produce straight from the farm, as well as locally sourced artisan makers, Jan understands how best to prepare the magnificent ingredients and flavours of the Barossa.
