You will be met at your Port Lincoln accommodation at 09:00am by your private local guide to begin your journey exploring the Eyre Peninsula. Your first stop on today’s experience will be a visit to the Coffin Bay National Park to check out some of South Australia’s most incredible views. With a number of native animal species found in the park – Western Grey Kangaroos, Emus, Goannas and Dolphins included, there is plenty to see in and around the national park.
Spend your morning exploring the beautiful and remote Coffin Bay National Park before heading back into town to experience the most famous spoils of the area – The Coffin Bay Oyster. Enjoy a 1 hour guided experience at Pure Coffin Bay Oysters, surrounded by clean fresh air, pure clear waters and beautiful landscapes, to learn about the Pacific and the Native Angasi Oyster. Pure Coffin Bay Oysters is an operation that contributes to the 60 tonnes of oysters that are trucked out of Coffin Bay every week. Chris and his team will explain and guide you through the whole Oyster growing and harvesting process. Fresh out of the rack, you get to sample these magnificent Oysters as well as seeing all the equipment used to get these Oysters into the top restaurants around the world.
Continue your culinary journey and ensure you’re all refreshed and fuelled up for the rest of the afternoon, with a lunch stop at the either Coffin Bay 1802 Oyster Bar and Grill or Boston Bay Winery, depending on the day of travel.
After lunch your guide will begin the journey out to Mikkira Station – the perfect location to view Koalas in their natural habitat. This is a fantastic place to sit back and relax around a campfire (seasonal considerations will apply) in the original restored homestead, or you may prefer to wander and explore the station. Finish off your visit with a platter filled with local produce and a glass of local wine.
On the way back to the Port Lincoln accommodation your guide will detour to the Marina Wharf – home to the Southern Hemisphere’s largest fishing fleet. You will also be able to view the diversity of Port Lincoln’s fishing industries vessels.
Your guide will then conclude your tour back at your Port Lincoln accommodation at approximately 5:30pm.
