Your epicurean adventure commences at 08:30am with collection from your Melbourne CBD address in a private luxury appointed vehicle.
Following a comfortable 60-minute journey, you will be greeted by the estate farmer at ‘Green Olive’ in the picturesque Red Hill region of the Mornington Peninsula.
With a fresh barista made coffee in hand, you will embark on a walking, tasting and foraging tour of the estate. Roam abundant olive groves while learning of the process for making oils used for the table and as ingredient for boutique Australian body products.
Then venture into the vines to gain first-hand insight to the grape growing process and the fascinating influence “terroir” has in the production of quality table wines.
Explore Green Olive’s extensive kitchen garden and be inspired as you handpick what you will need for the ensuing cooking lesson. Not just a productive olive grove and vineyard, Green Olive also has an extensive herb and vegetable kitchen garden and pastures raising sheep, pigs and chickens.
Meet the farmer along with the chef on this engaging and interactive tour and cooking class before setting off to explore the gourmet credentials of the picturesque Mornington Peninsula.
Now on to the kitchen where under the expert guidance of Green Olive’s chef you will create some delicious dishes in what is a true paddock to plate experience. And the culmination of your efforts is to devour your handcrafted dishes with a glass of the estate grown wines.
While the afternoon in the Mornington Peninsula is still young, there is time to visit one of the leading boutique producers of elegant chardonnay, pinot gris and pinot noir for which the region is so highly regarded. Under the expert guidance of a wine expert, enjoy a structured wine tasting of current vintages and barrel tasting when possible.
To finish off the day, perhaps visit a farmhouse cheese factory and goat dairy for an extensive tasting of creamy chevre, feta, and hard goat’s cheeses – perfectly paired with a glass of local pinot if you please.
After a fulfilling day of learning and tasting, collate your thoughts and recipes or simply relax while you are whisked back to your Melbourne address.
The return journey will see you returned to your Melbourne CBD at approximately 5:30pm.
