Many consider Phillip Island’s iconic penguin parade an unmissable wildlife experience for visitors to Melbourne. Their immense popularity have made it hard to escape the tourist droves, but local favourite Mornington Peninsula, provides the perfect balance with a wealth of local treats and treasures. This is the best way to experience the many charms of both regions while avoiding much of the mass-market tourism that is otherwise hard to escape.
Be met at your hotel by your well-informed and connected local guide between 10:00am and 12:00pm (midday) depending on the season. The short drive to Mornington is a great chance to share some of your tastes and interests so these can be made a feature of your uniquely tailored experience.
Sit back and marvel at breathtaking views in one of our luxury touring vehicles as you enjoy premium Australian treats, including local chocolate, natural spring water and premium skin care products.
Some suggest it is never too early for bubbles. If you’re in that boat, the Mornington Peninsula has some classic local sparkling to get the day undereway. Tastings can be enjoyed at a number of local cellar doors, with the opportunity to venture behind the scenes with the winemaker.
The region is renown for farm-to-plate experiences at restaurants and cellar doors. Enjoy one of the best over a two-course winery lunch with matching wines, nestled among rolling hills and sprawling vineyards. Weather permitting, this can be enjoyed among the vines in your own private picnic setting.
Visit hidden beaches among Victoria’s wild southern coastline for a gentle stroll after lunch or take the scenic drive up to Arthur’s Seat. If you’re in the mood for something cultural, we can arrange a private viewing at a local indigenous gallery. You might prefer to sample local artisan cheese and pastries in a charming country setting.
En route to Phillip Island, stop at our favourite local wildlife park for some behind the scenes encounters with kangaroos, koalas and a host of other native animals.
Take a look at the island from the air, on a spectacular scenic helicopter flight.
During the cooler months, the penguins arrive earlier in the evening and typically, we would visit before dinner. We will make sure to reach the nature park just in time for you to take your place in the premium viewing section of the park for the closest possible experience of this marvellous natural wonder.
Penguins admired, take time to walk the boardwalks and hear from naturalist guides about this curious and memorable phenomenon.
Enjoy a lovely meal in a charming seaside restaurant boasting plenty of delicious local fare. In the summertime, we will often arrange a classic seaside BBQ (weather permitting) before visiting the penguins, which only arrive once the sun has set.
