The Tasman Peninsula and Port Arthur Historic Site are some of Tasmania’s most visited destinations. Located on Tasmania’s scenic south east coast, the rugged Tasman Peninsula offers spectacular coastlines, blowholes, caves, and fascinating geological formations, such as Devils Kitchen and Tasman Arch.
Much of the peninsula is protected as a National Park and is home to a diverse range of wildlife. You may be lucky to spot the endangered Wedge-tailed Eagle overhead.
Your experienced and local guide will greet you at your CBD accommodation at 8:30am. Travel to the peninsula and explore the famous rock formations along the spectacular coastline, before visiting Tasmania’s World Heritage listed convict settlement site, Port Arthur.
Stroll through the well-preserved open-air museum of ruins and restored colonial homes, as your expert guide brings Port Arthur’s varied history alive. One a place for the hardest of convicted criminals in the 18th and 19th century, a place so remote and beautiful and inescapable there are many stories to be told.
After your visit to Port Arthur, a UNESCO World Heritage area, relax and unwind to enjoy lunch at a restaurant nestled on the shores of Stewarts Bay at Port Arthur, a beautiful location.
In the afternoon, be inspired, intrigued, challenged and entertained with a visit to Tasmanian Devil Unzoo, sure to get you thinking the natural world and your place in it, in a completely new way. Instead of exhibiting animals in traditional enclosures, an Unzoo invites you into the animal’s natural habitats, in which cages or barriers are removed or concealed and wild, as well as resident animals, are encouraged to interact with the environment. An Unzoo creates an environment where animals have more freedom and dignity and where human visitors experience personal, memorable encounters with wildlife and nature.
After an extremely full day of beautiful scenery, history and your Unzoo experience, enjoy the drive back to Hobart, which takes just over 1 hour. Your guide will bid you farewell at your CBD accommodation at 5:30pm.
