This luxury day tour offers a maximum of four privileged guests an opportunity to view an abundance of wildlife in their natural habitat, without fences or barriers in a private, exclusive and intimate setting. Relax and enjoy a four course meal of Tasmanian produce and wine by the campfire, be hosted by very knowledgeable and passionate locals and let the exceptional example of native Tasmanian wildlife come to you!
Your dedicated guide will transfer you from your accommodation (the time of departure varies depending on seasonality/sunset to ensure the best time for wildlife viewing) to begin the day of wildlife viewing, starting with Ben Lomond National Park. The road to Ben Lomond snakes it way to the top of the mountain, which is made up of dolerite columns and scree slopes and is home to eight of the twenty highest peaks in Tasmania. Ben Lomond plays an invaluable role in regional wildlife conservation and is also the highest drivable peak in Tasmania, so you are guaranteed uninterrupted breath-taking views of the surrounding landscape.
In a beautiful private, comfortable and natural setting, Forester kangaroos will keep safe (and curious) company when you indulge in Tasmanian beverages and begin on your 4-course dinner. This dinner includes a delectable platter of Tasmanian cheeses complete with smoked salmon and fruits, before moving on to wallaby mountain burgers and native spiced salmon.
As the sun sets, the real show begins and the “after dark” spectacle of incredible wildlife viewing unfolds. Whilst sitting in the comfort of the light and warmth of your campfire, the wildlife will start to appear at dusk to graze. Keep an eye out for brush-tail possums, kangaroos, eastern quolls, wombats and Tasmanian pademelon wallabies to name a few. On occasion platypus, bandicoots and owls can also be viewed. Don’t forget your camera, as there are some brilliant photo opportunities to take advantage of here! This is an unforgettable experience that provides an excellent example of why Tasmania has some of the best natural wildlife viewing in Australia.
After a day of brilliant food, company and wildlife, enjoy the easy 90 minute drive back to Launceston with your tour concluding upon arrival back to your accommodation (finish timers are dependent on seasonal factors).
