Seeing Kangaroo Island is a definite must when visiting South Australia. And what better way to explore it than a private tour of your own uncovering the rugged wilderness, rock formations and untouched wildlife ‘up close and personal’.
Highlights of this private luxury day tour include visitation to Flinders Chase National Park, Cape du Couedic, Remarkable Rocks and Kelly Hill Conservation Hill to name few.
A Kangaroo Island wildlife tour not to be missed, indulge your appreciation for flora, fauna and stunning naturally made land formations. Your specialist guide will meet you at your Kangaroo Island accommodation or airport, transporting you to the first beautiful location, to enjoy a delicious morning tea of home baked goodies and a “cuppa” (tea or coffee) as you get to know your surroundings, learning about the history of the land itself.
Now you have satisfied your hunger, it’s on to exploring and learning about the abundant wildlife, with as much wildlife viewing as much as possible. Flinders Chase is home to a plethora of animals including possums, wallabies, platypus, echidnas and goannas’ and the popular and well-known kangaroos and koalas. Look up to the skies and there is an abundance of birdlife to see. Set against the breathtaking scenery of the Southern Ocean, it’s easy to understand why wildlife and locals feel lucky to live on Australia’s 3rd largest island, with the incredible geological features and significant heritage sites.
At the south-western point of Kangaroo Island is Cape du Couedic where you will be able to see dunes with a complex fire history as well as a variety of flora and natural habitats for the wildlife. Open your eyes to a fur seal colony and learn its place in history before the seals became fully protected. Don’t forget to look out for ‘Admiral’s Arch’ a very dramatic rocklike formation which has been naturally created by the Southern Ocean framing so beautifully the ocean and sand beneath it – this is a definite photo opportunity!
Lastly, and for many visitors the definite highlight of this tour, is Remarkable Rocks. Marvel at the weathered rock formation and the brilliant colours it projects from years of relentless winds, sun, rain and strength from mother nature. Your picnic lunch is complete with delicious food, local produce and beverages.
Your tour concludes approximately 6:00pm when you are returned back to your accommodation or Kingscote airport to meet your flight.
