Itinerary

Day 1

Upon arrival at Sydney Airport you will be met and privately transferred to The Langham, Sydney.

Situated within the heart of Sydney’s historic Rocks district, The Langham offers dramatic Harbour views. Guests can enjoy sweeping western harbourside views, and a tranquil yet convenient proximity to some of the city’s most iconic areas. Rooms are a haven of plush, bespoke furnishings amidst soft panelled walls and high ceilings.

Today is yours to spend at your leisure. Perhaps take a walk around the famous Sydney Harbour, journey to Bondi Beach or simply relax and recover after your long-haul fight. The Langham’s Day Spa By Chuan may be the perfect anecdote to your jetlag.

Day 2

Following breakfast, you will be met by your knowledgeable private guide for your full day city and harbour experience.

See the best of Sydney by sea and by land, as you travel through the fashionable Sydney suburbs of Woolloomooloo, Kings Cross and Paddington, enjoy a spectacular cruise on a luxury vessel, a quiet lunch in a secluded bay aboard your private vessel, and end the day back on land as you discover Watson’s Bay and Bondi Beach.

After a full day visiting the famous sites and uncovering the hidden Sydney gems your guide will return you to your accommodation.

Day 3

Today is free for you to explore the city as you choose.

Sydney’s laid-back outdoor lifestyle and physical allure make it one of the world’s easiest and most pleasant cities to visit. The people who live here are friendly and energetic.

All of its attributes lie within easy reach of the city centre. Sydney’s harbour is its natural playground, the dominant factor in so much of what the city has to offer. The city has a wide-ranging cultural life, dynamic food scene and vibrant cityscape of outstanding contemporary and colonial architecture. Iconic beaches and five major national parks deliver unforgettable experiences.

Day 4

This morning you will be met at The Langham and privately transferred to Sydney Airport. Board your scheduled flight from Sydney to Uluru, where you will be met upon arrival and transferred to Longitude 131°.

The award-winning luxury wilderness camp in Australia’s red centre is a deluxe camping experience that embraces the solitude and serenity of the sand dunes. Stay in one of sixteen palatial, elevated tents each with its own unique and exquisite artwork throughout. Awake to your own private view of the sun rising over Uluru. Luxurious and eco-sensitive, Longitude 131° offers immersion in the wilderness, mystery and spirituality of Uluru.

An exceptional touring program designed especially for guests is included in the wilderness experience and a personalised itinerary is presented upon arrival. Signature Experiences with lodge naturalist guides are shared with fellow guests in custom touring vehicles. Expeditions operate at scheduled times on a rotating basis, dependant on day of arrival, with timing subject to sunrise and sunset times which vary throughout the year, according to the seasons and weather permitting. Day 5

Continue to enjoy the included activities on offer while staying at Longitude 131°.

Meet your guide and explore the culture, geology and environment that is Uluru. Witness a spectacular sunrise or sunset over the most profound and culturally significant monolith in Australia. Meander around the rock on either the Base Walk or any number of the short walks into waterholes and art sites, whilst your guide explains Uluru’s cultural significance to the Anangu (local Aboriginal) people. View ceremonial rock art and sacred waterholes where Aboriginal families once came to teach their children the Tjukurpa (Dreaming) stories. Visit the Cultural Centre where details of traditional Aboriginal life are explained and absorb the majesty of this powerful place through the contours of this great natural monument.

Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park is a place where unique flora and fauna thrive. Whilst you make your way to Kata Tjuta (The Olgas) your personal local guide will reveal the many attributes of this diverse environment and describe the cultural significance of Kata Tjuta as a sacred Aboriginal men’s ceremonial site. Arriving at Walpa Gorge walk between the mighty conglomerate domes and hear how the 36 domes that make up Kata Tjuta have evolved over millions of years. Take time to listen to the wind (Walpa) far above and view the scale of the rock walls that surround. The spirituality of this amazing location embraces everyone who ventures here.

Day 6

Enjoy your final morning in the Red Centre before being transferred to Ayers Rock Airport to meet your scheduled flight to Cairns. Upon arrival in Cairns you will be transferred to General Aviation to meet your scheduled flight to Lizard Island.

Situated some 240 kilometres north of Cairns, Lizard Island is spectacularly located on the Great Barrier Reef and is fringed with Coral reefs and picture-perfect white beaches. Lizard Island features 40 elegant rooms, with spacious open-plan designs and spectacular views.

All 24 beaches, with fine powdery white sand, are largely undisturbed, except for the occasional footprint. Lizard Island has a wide array of water-based experiences. Snorkelling equipment and lessons are provided for trips off of the beaches. Snorkel from one of the many secluded beaches to discover a garden of giant clams, some of which are reported to be up to 120 years old. Or you can explore Anchor and Watson’s bay on a catamaran or glass bottom paddle ski. There is also the option of taking a self-guided island or nature walk, or enjoying a picnic hamper for a romantic beachside lunch.

If you are a little more adventurous, there are diving and snorkelling trips to the Inner and Outer reef, and fishing enthusiasts can charter the 15.5m ‘Fascination’, or dive the famous Cod Hole, where you’ll come face to face with the massive, yet curious Potato Cod (additional charge).

Notes

This tour is designed for – Solo travellers/couples/small groups and families with children 10 years and over. Lizard Island & Longitude 131° are not suited to children under this age. Should the itinerary be of interest and you are travelling with a young family please contact one of our Travel Designers as we can customise a journey to suit your exact travel needs.

This Itinerary can be taken all year round; however, we recommend speaking with your Travel Designer as seasonal considerations may apply e.g. from December to March is the wet season in Tropical North Queensland, when you are likely to experience high humidity and rain, particularly in the months of February and March. Please note that Lizard Island is closed from 28th January 2019 to 10th February 2019 inclusive.

Luggage Restrictions

  • Lizard Island scheduled flights have a luggage restriction of 25kg per person, including 4kg of hand luggage -soft sided luggage (including base of luggage) is preferred.
