The popular KI Food Safari, a week-long journey returns for another year to chart a route of culinary discovery across Kangaroo Island in search of plentiful food and wine hand-picked straight from the source.
After 6 successful seasons, the KI Food Safari is returning to whisk an exclusive group of lucky travellers off on a gastronomic adventure across the famous Kangaroo Island. Launched in 2011, the food Safari has gained considerable momentum, and can now be regarded as one of the best insights in South Australia’s island foodie haven.
The week-long epicurean journey gives visitors a hands-on paddock-to-plate experience, providing an intimate look at not only the range of premium produce famously produced by KI, but the integral place it has within the community and culture of the island.
Starring much-loved South Australian food legend, Maggie Beer, along with a host of chefs and food personalities, visitors are taken on gourmet excursions to dairies, wineries, farms and even to the innovative Aquaculture Skills Centre at Parndana School, where senior students assist in the growth and development of sustainable barramundi and cooking herbs used by the famous Southern Ocean Lodge. Excursions also include a range of dining experiences and cooking demonstrations in stunning Kangaroo Island settings.
Included in the KI Food Safari is 7 nights accommodation in the world-renowned Southern Ocean Lodge. Each night at the lodge will be a celebration of the day’s harvest. The jewel in the crown of Kangaroo Island, Southern Ocean Lodge with its incomparable views and fresh ocean air provides the perfect retreat to both continue and reflect on the days culinary exploration.
Total package prices start at $8,400 per person based on twin share accommodation in a Flinders Suite.
