Itinerary

Day 1

Upon arrival into Brisbane airport, you will board a scheduled flight to Cairns Airport. Upon arrival, you will be met and privately transferred to Silky Oaks Lodge, where you will enjoy an evening at your leisure to recuperate and relax.

Silky Oaks Lodge is one of Australia’s premier luxury lodges, offering a unique experience from which to explore Tropical North Queensland, situated within easy access from Cairns and a 15 minute drive from Port Douglas.

Spectacularly situated on the Mossman Gorge River, Silky Oaks Lodge is the region’s premier accommodation nestled on the edge of the World Heritage-listed Daintree National Park. This luxury boutique lodge consists of elegant spacious lounges and living areas, its own Healing Waters Spa, and the stunningly located open sided Tree House restaurant, which overlooks the surrounding rainforest and river in tranquil surrounds.

Day 2

Today you will step back in time to experience the breathtaking Daintree and Mossman Rainforest. In the morning, your own private guide will take you to visit a beautifully diverse botanical garden, containing more than 3,000 tropical plant species from around the world. See plant species that have been used for generations by indigenous rainforest cultures, for food, spices, shelter, medicine and more. You will be provided lunch in the beautiful surrounds while visiting the gardens.

After lunch board your private Daintree River crocodile cruise. Get up close and personal with some of the most exciting inhabitants of the Daintree mangroves and rainforest, all from the comfort and safety of your weather-proof boat. This truly unique ecosystem is home to an extensive array of wildlife, and whilst on your private cruise, you will have the opportunity to meet some of these locals.

In the afternoon, take a walk in the footsteps of the Kurribi Warra Clan of the Kuku Yalanji, through the mangroves and the sandflats, as you learn how to throw a spear and hunt for traditional ocean produce such as mudcrabs and fish. End your exciting day by cooking up your beach catch, before taking a leisurely trip back to Silky Oaks Lodge through the swaying sugar cane fields with the rainforest clad mountains of the Great Dividing Range watching over you.

Day 3

Today is yours to enjoy at your leisure. Perhaps enjoy the Lodge facilities such as the gym, tennis court or pool, make sure you treat yourself to a rejuvenating Healing Water Spa treatment up to the value of $160 which is included in your stay.

Explore the stunning landscape surrounding the lodge with one of the many available activities. Silky Oaks lodge has a range of complimentary activities including:

  • Guided nature walks through the grounds and adjoining rainforest
  • Canoeing on the Mossman River
  • Swimming and snorkelling in the Mossman River
  • Bike riding
  • Yoga classes

Whilst at Silky Oaks Lodge there are also a range of experiences available for an additional change including jungle surfing, horse riding, fishing charters, helicopter experiences and much more. Day 4

After breakfast, you will be privately transferred to Cairns airport, where you will board a scheduled flight to the tropical Lizard Island.

Situated some 240 kilometres north of Cairns, Lizard Island is surrounded by a sea of deep aquamarine, and forms part of the Great Barrier Reef near its northernmost end. The beautiful Lizard Island Resort is balanced high above the Coral Sea and set on the point at Sunset Ridge. The range of spacious open-plan suites and villas are luxuriously appointed, all with spectacular views.

The beaches are plentiful, 24 in all, with fine powdery white sand, undisturbed but for the occasional footprints. Your island is for snorkelling, if you choose, or deep-sea game fishing, or diving at The Cod Hole, one of the world-famous dive sites just a short boat ride away. Enjoy secluded picnics on private beaches, five-star cuisine and indulging spa treatments.

Naturally many of the options on Lizard Island involve the water. Snorkelling equipment and lessons are provided. You can snorkel off a secluded beach to discover a garden of giant clams, many a metre long and some reputed to be 120 years old. Or you can explore Anchor and Watson’s bay on a catamaran or glass bottom paddle ski.

Fishing enthusiasts can charter the 15.5m “Fascination”, or dive the famous Cod Hole, where you may come face to face with the massive, yet curious Potato Cod.

Day 8

Enjoy your last morning at Lizard Island before boarding your scheduled flight to Cairns and connect with the scheduled flight from Cairns to Sydney. Upon arrival at Sydney Airport you will be privately transferred to The Langham, Sydney.

Situated within the heart of Sydney’s historic Rocks district, The Langham offers dramatic Harbour views. Guests can enjoy sweeping western harbour side views, and a tranquil yet convenient proximity to some of the city’s most iconic experiences. Rooms are a haven of plush, bespoke furnishings amidst soft panelled walls and high ceilings.

This afternoon is yours to enjoy at your own leisure.

Day 9

Included in your Sydney stay is a full day private harbour and city tour. This is the perfect way to get your bearings, spending time with an experienced passionate guide to introduce you to one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

After breakfast your private guide will collect you from your hotel and drive to the marina to begin your 3 hour private cruise aboard the luxurious motor 44’ cruiser, the “Iluka”. You will cruise within meters of the Sydney Opera House with views back to the Sydney Harbour Bridge and up the harbour to the Eastern Suburbs. You will make your way past Woolloomooloo, Garden Island, Double Bay, Vaucluse, Rose Bay and up to historic Watson’s Bay. You will then head across to Chowder Bay and on to Taronga Zoo where you will stop for a beautiful gourmet lunch.

On conclusion of lunch you will be returned to the marina with your guide and commence the land portion of your private full day tour. Your knowledgeable guide will drive you through some of Sydney’s most affluent suburbs, visit some of Sydney’s beautiful beaches and bays with a stop at Vaucluse House to see an example of Sydney’s colonial architecture. The next stop on the tour is Bondi where you will have the chance to take a short coastal walk or venture onto the white sands of Bondi Beach.

On your way back to the accommodation your guide will take you to visit the fashionable suburb of Paddington, where you will have the chance to travel down some of Sydney’s historic laneways and gain a glimpse of the trendy high fashion stores, private art galleries and the array of old world pubs. On conclusion of your tour you will be returned back to The Langham, Sydney.

Day 10

This morning you are in for a real treat as you make your way to the BridgeClimb, the ultimate experience of Sydney; reach the summit of the world-famous Sydney Harbour Bridge, 134 metres above Sydney Harbour. It takes you along catwalks, up ladders, and steadily to the summit of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Experience the satisfaction of conquering the upper arch of the Bridge while taking in city surrounds, the World Heritage listed Sydney Opera House, the harbour and the Bridge itself beneath your feet.

After lunch we can arrange for you to participate in a private showroom experience at Paspaley Pearls. Almost all of the pearls available in the showroom are Australian South Sea Pearls from their own personal pearl farms, considered to be some of the highest quality pearls in the world. There is no extra cost involved with this activity and it is exclusive only to The Tailor.

For your final full day in Sydney, spend the day as you wish, perhaps opt for a private surf lesson, a tour of the iconic Sydney Opera House (additional costs), or simply take in the sights and sounds of this exciting city with a relaxing wander through the streets. After breakfast you will be met and privately transferred by vehicle from The Langham, Sydney to the Sydney Airport to connect with your departure flight homewards. Or you may choose to continue with your journey in Australia.

This tour is designed for – Solo travellers/couples/small groups and families with children 10 years and over. Lizard Island is not suited to children under this age. Should the itinerary be of interest and you are travelling with a young family please contact one of our Travel Designers as we can customise a journey to suit your exact travel needs.

This itinerary can be taken year round; however, we suggest speaking with your Travel Designer as seasonal considerations may apply. In Tropical North Queensland from December to March it is the wet season, when you are likely to experience high humidity and rain, particularly in the months of February and March. Please note that Lizard Island is closed from 29 January to 11 February 2018 inclusive. While we endeavour to make the itinerary as accurate as possible, it should be considered as an approximate schedule of activities and guide only rather than a rigid schedule of events. Lizard Island Flight & Luggage Restrictions
